Taking it Outside – New Thread Quartet

The New Thread Quartet joins Music for Contemplation to present an outdoor concert of works for 8 saxophones. Walk, bike, or picnic while taking in premiere works by Craig Shepard’s and Erin Rogers. Both works incorporate the sounds of the site, inviting listeners to pause and breath in the ambience.

The Newtown Creek Nature walk is a superfund site located near the ends of Paidge Avenue and Provost Streets at the northeast tip of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. 7 to Hunter’s Point Avenue and walk over the Pulaski, G to Greenpoint Avenue, B32/B67 to the foot of the Pulaski Bridge. Parking is available near the entrance to the Walk. If you have not been to the site before, please leave a few minutes early to find your way.

This event is entirely outdoors. In the event of rain, the performance will take place nearby under coverage.
All performers are required to be vaccinated; listeners are strongly encouraged to wear masks.

Concert is free an open to the public.

 

New Thread Quartet saxophonist Kristen McKeon was recognized with a $5,000 City Artists Corps grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) to contribute to the presentation of this event.
