Marilyn Shrude in NYC

It was great to see Dr. Shrude this past week. She was in New York for two performances of her chamber work “Raining Glass”, for piano trio, performed by the Lost Dog New Music Ensemble. A wonderful piece, I was able to hear it premiered at the BG new Music and Art Festival a few years ago. Busy as ever, she had just come from a brief residency in North Carolina.

Garth Sunderland, director of Lost Dog, was a former student of Shrude’s, as he attended BGSU during a year long hiatus from USC (he then went on to study at the University of Michigan). I’m looking forward to premiering a chamber piece of Garth’s next spring. Details to come!

Congratulations David!

Congratulations are in order to David Wegehaupt for making it to the semi-final round in the 2006 Adolphe Sax International Competition in Dinant, Belgium. A good friend and former student of mine, David currently studies at Bowling Green State University with Dr. John Sampen. An incredible player – keep your eye on this guy!
