Cloning is the process of producing individual organisms with identical DNA. Yet a clone is often thought of as an imposter, less alive, void of emotion. In pitting the partially-amplified ensemble against a “drone clone” (generating synthesizer), the subjects (ensemble and synth) take on new meaning when sonically blended and phased. Both hold value. Both are enhanced by interaction with the other. With a backdrop of sameness, small differences become exciting and empowering. —Erin Rogers
