Program Note:
Third Contact, for amplified tenor saxophone, is performed solo, with a small electronics setup. The effect of key amplification and feedback from the bell of the saxophone allow for an array of pitches, partials and spontaneous tones to enter the work. Alongside the amplified version of Breaking Waves, the set of two works can be performed individually or together as a single set. Both works were composed and premiered in 2019, though not set to score notation until 2025 at the encouragement of Geoffrey Deibel, who is the first to perform Third Contact and Breaking Waves from notated score.
